Gewanda Jackson Obituary

Gewanda Letitia Jackson, age 61, was born in Marion, Alabama, on April 5, 1964, to Hardis Lee Jackson, Sr., and Pearlie Mae Lee Jackson and left for Heaven on February 18, 2026, after passing at Parkview Regional  Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, surrounded by family.

Wanda was the 6th of 10 children, but acted like she was everyone’s momma. She professed Christ as a teenager, joining Antioch Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. The Lord led her to Imani Baptist Temple, where she faithfully served until her passing. God graced her to be a caregiver, both in her personal and professional life. Her home health clients were like family to her. She dutifully cared for our brother and father during their prolonged illnesses, and she did it with grace. Never complaining. Ever present.

Our Beloved Wanda leaves to cherish her memory her children Darius Jackson, Ft. Wayne, IN, Alexis Parker and Dorian (Trenay) Parker, Ft. Wayne, IN; 8 siblings: Barbara Walker, Indianapolis, IN, Jennifer (Dwayne) Dixon, Indianapolis, IN, Cedric (Lori) Jackson, Atlanta, GA, Kimberly (Roosevelt) Childs, Indianapolis, IN, Valerie (El Greco) Shaw, Clarksville, TN, Martin (Daphne) Jackson, Ft. Wayne, IN, Tracey (Tracie Wilson) Jackson, Lexington, NC, and Michael (Tonya) Jackson, Ft. Wayne, IN; her grandchildren: Daryce, Amber, Darian, Damiun, and Daylen Jackson, Braylen and Bryce Johnson, Dorian, Amiya, Aliya, and Jacion Parker; her closest friend, Wanda Lesia Woods; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Gewanda was preceded in death by her mother, Pearlie Mae Lee Jackson;  father, Hardis Lee Jackson, Sr.; and brother, Hardis Lee Jackson, Jr.

Gewanda Letitia Jackson was a woman who loved life and had a selfless desire to serve others. She enjoyed any social gathering with her family and friends. Her true passion, however, was serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. From her acceptance of Christ at an early age to her receiving her wings at age 61, Wanda was a true servant of Christ and touched countless lives. Always a no-nonsense kind of gal, she could always be depended upon to do exactly what she said she would do. An inspiration to young and old, Wanda was a true and mighty woman of God.

Family first! The most important thing to Wanda, after her love for God, was her family. She was a devoted daughter who took care of her parents and brother until they went home to be with the Lord, a dutiful mother who worked hard to provide for and protect her family, a respectful sister who fiercely loved her brothers and sisters, an ever-present auntie who stayed in the mix of all her nieces and nephews, and a loving grandmother to her 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
